E.L. Haynes Public Charter School is the first public school in DC to use a year-round calendar. It serves approximately three hundred students from Pre-K to Fifth grade. The Headmaster is Jennie Niles, and the two principals are Eric Westendorf (upper grades) and Michelle Molitor (lower grades).

Data driven instructional planning and the teaching fellows program are a few best practices that have made EL Haynes successful. The fellows program places an “intern” teacher with the master teacher in each classroom. This reduces the teacher to student ratio and allows instruction to be more individualized.
